Summary
The Coater Production Supervisor oversees manufacturing workflow and personnel in order to meet customer requirements, on time goals, and production needs as outlined in the production schedule and all Coater Unit Requirements.
Essential Job Functions
Work involves most of the following:
- Responsible for achieving all departmental business, quality and safety goals established by management.
- Monitor coater to verify quality, productivity, and waste, meet established requirements.
- Address all production, scheduling, quality, and maintenance problems.
- Ensure all personnel have received proper training in relation to their positions. This includes safety awareness, coater maintenance and any and all additional special job related requirements.
- Communicate (email) daily production summary to designated recipients.
- Identify root cause of errors and implement subsequent corrective action.
- Operate coater if needed and perform appropriate monitoring and job approvals.
- Assist on all staffing level requirements
- Monitor daily active consumption dashboards.
- Identify production improvement opportunities.
- Verify data collection entries are correct.
- Review efficiency and downtime key indicators on a daily basis and institute corrective action when appropriate.
- Drive Lean and quality management systems initiatives.
- Assist on special projects and perform other duties as required by management.
- Attend meetings, conferences and seminars.
- Is assigned to special projects.
- Additional responsibilities and duties as directed by direct supervisor and/or senior company management.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
- Experience within the printing manufacturing or graphics industry desired.
- Computer literate able to learn to use various software packages
- Good organizational skills including the ability to multi task and be cross trained in various disciplines
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Job involves use of hearing protection, work with water based inks, use of degreasers and solvents and other lubricants.
- Must be highly mobile, able to access all areas of the premises.
- Ability to work over eight hours in a work day, and over 40 in a work week as necessary.
- Use of close vision and fine motor skills to detect quality issues.
- Vision abilities including close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Position requires constant standing, frequent reaching, use of hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, stretching and crouching and occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds, pushing paper rolls that weigh up to 500 pounds.
- Constant close attention to detail, use of close vision and fine motor skills to detect quality issues and occasional communication with supervisor or other employees.
